To a small child, the perfect granddad is unafraid of big dogs and fierce storms but absolutely terrified of the word "boo."
Memories are always of ghosts, Halloween memories being of ghosts in little ghost costumes.
Today's Parenting Tip: Treat a difficult child the way you would your boss at work. Praise his achievements, ignore his tantrums and resist the urge to sit him down and explain to him how his brain is not yet fully developed.
I've just been to a seance. Everybody sat around, trying to conjure up ghosts from the past. No, wait -- that was my class reunion.
Kids can usually outsmart us, because their brains are undeveloped and ours are still undeveloping.
The devil, on God: "If you ask me, He does have a tendency to demonize His opponents."
Nothing ensures that kids will misbehave like regarding everything they do as misbehavior.

Hi Robert
I wish 'Today's parenting tip' was around when I needed it. The Devil quote is really very good too and underlines how acceptable or reasonable he can seem. He does deal in half truths after all.
Welcome back!
Ken,
Your characterization of the devil might apply to much of what I post here -- acceptable, reasonable, half true. It is said that for every wise saying, there is an opposite saying equally wise.

LOL, Love the quotes, especially the one about the Granddad, that is so true.
Marlene,
Thanks. Occasionally I sneak one in that's actually from personal experience.

I'm with Marlene - -the granddad quote applies to grandmas too. I love it because it's 100% accurate.
Hi! I'm with Marlene and Jan on the Granddad quote! That one brings a smile!
Have a wonderful weekend! ~Maria

My grandson used to play postman, delivering me letters in sealed envelopes that contained the one word "boo." I tell you, it was frightening.

So true - "Nothing ensures that kids will misbehave..." - How can we let them be kids, if we don't let them experiment, run around, get messy and dirty!
KB,
You said it well. Thanks for commenting.

I've never seen a blog worth commenting on before. I LOVE what you have to say. I am now a big fan.
janet,
Thanks, and welcome. Unfortunately, I'm about to call it a season on the blog. Been at it since March and plan to break until next March. Hope to see you then.
