Thoughts Mostly on Art and Artists

"If reality weren't reality, it would be a darn good impression."

"In terms of reality, all art is decomposition and all science reverse engineering."

"If the Creator had been into modern art, the modern artist would be into realism."

"Art is about deciding what to maximize and what to minimize to maximize it,

"The abstract artist recognizes that observed reality is a painted-over canvas, his art not a layering but an uncovering."

"Abstract art presents us the notion of the carefully-crafted chaos, which is as close to understanding the universe as we're likely to get."

Today's Family Thought

The thing about family disasters is that you never have to wait long before the next one puts the previous one into perspective.

My favorite one is this: "Art is about deciding what to maximize and what to minimize to maximize it," Any female who has ever used makeup will testify of its truth.

I also nodded my head at the family thought. The previous fiasco never seems as dire when the new one rears its head.

Great thoughts, Robert. I agree, Randi -- the art of makeup is ever-developing. :)

The family thought is 100% accurate - -because just when you think it can't get any worse, it does, and makes the previous disasters look tame.

Thanks for a smile today!

Funny Randi! I thought about a woman choosing the "right" clothes to wear ...
which leads to this quote:
"If reality weren't reality, it would be a darn good impression."

(Oh gee ---sorry Robert ;o)
...
and the last quote, joining with all in agreement...

Yes, I particularly like the "Art is about deciding what to maximize and what to minimize to maximize it," and I hope I can use the quote when I eventually get my art site up and running. The family one is spot on too!
Thanks Robert.

Thanks, all. Please excuse not replying individually, but Joan reminds me that I'm supposed to be vacationing. I found the art quotes in an old file on her laptop. Well, off to see the sun come up on the beach. Maybe the tide will wash up a few more thoughts.

Hello Mr. Brault. I wanted to inform you that I am writing a term paper on Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying" and "The Sound and the Fury", and was inspired by your quote:
"The thing about family disasters is that you never have to wait long before the next one puts the previous one into perspective."
I am writing my term paper on family politics, and I felt that this would really start my paper off with a bang. I paraphrased it as so:
"Robert Brault makes the point that every familial catastrophe is only to be eclipsed by another somewhere in the near future ("Thoughts Mostly on Art and Artists")."
If you have anything against my use of your idea to introduce my thesis, please contact me through my email fowler.connor@gmail.com
I'm only in my rough draft stage, so feel free to grant or disallow usage of your idea as you wish. I have cited it using MLA, which links back to your site and gives you proper credit.
Great quote, Mr. Brault, and thank you for your time.
