You hit the mom quote right on the nose -- it's so hard to realize that your children are people in their own right, with the same God-given gift of the freedom to choose that everyone has. And when they exercise it in a way that isn't the best, it's a tough thing to shift the responsibility to where it belongs - -on the shoulders of the person making the choice. I know this one from experience. Thanks for verbalizing the reality so clearly.
Jan,
Thanks for expanding on my thought so wisely. But this is certainly a case where all the wisdom in the world isn't going to change a thing.

I love the 2+2=4 quote, mainly because I love the perfection of math. I was in high school when I learned about Pascal's Triangle. I thought,"Wow, math is perfect, ergo God must be perfect since he created math." The more math and science I learn, the more I know this was no accident.
The poverty/lottery quote gets my emotions rolling too. Nuff said.
And my take-away quote of the week for use in the classroom: "A child is always more motivated by the chance to exceed expectations than by the challenge of meeting them."
Big void here in the comments section. *Sniff*
Randi,
Thanks -- and may we all be granted the satisfaction that when we, too, pass, there be a void in somebody's comment section.
