Got my response to this post in the wrong place. I've read and enjoyed all your posts. So refreshing and thought-provoking!
Hi Robert!
As always...there are many wonderful thought here~
On this one...
"How old am I? It depends. In terms of this life, I'm in my 71st year. In terms of the next life, I'm in my third trimester,"
...I think we are all timeless inside~
It looks like we should see the sun again on Saturday... ☼
~Have a wonderful weekend~ Maria
Right, I think the best thing for me to do is write all these quotes down in an A-Z book as there is always something brilliant from each post...including most of this one.
This one surprised me and made me think..."When I ask a person what he thinks, I don't want to hear from some chip installed in his brain twenty years ago." And nothing can be more true than this one..."The major good any of us can do for our community is to be self-supporting."
Okay, now for today. I'm dreading it. It's going to be an impossible one followed by another impossible one so I'd better start drawing the steps in.
Don,
I much appreciate your continuing support and wish you the best with your wonderful book, "God's Comeback Kids."
Maria,
Hi. I was glad to see rain overnight in our very dry woodlands. My spirits are high this gray morning. I was born in November, and I am November's child, it seems.
Ken,
I agree that the green sprig you picked out of your garden is probably illegal and probably due to a stray seed dropped by a bird. You should be okay with the law, though. They're more concerned when the bird drops the seed in your attic.
smiles all,

HAPPY November BIRTHDAY, Robert!
This is my birthday month too.
It's been a great November, don't you think!?!
Maria,
Since I got here first, welcome to my birthday month. Yes, it's been a great month, although I'm still hoping for at least one day when I can stand on a pier on the Connecticut shore, see the gray sky reflected in the ocean and feel a few pellets of sleet in my face. Then I'll be completely happy in my November way.

Robert,
I've just found your blog, and I think it is really fantastic and really an eye-opener...
Cheers,
Denny

Another November child here! All excellent "thoughts", as always. I am drawn to "The most valuable lesson man has learned from his dog is to kick a few blades of grass over it and move on." So true and I can always do that.....but sometimes "it" leaves a stain. Thank you again for these wonderful lessons! April
I am a newbie, and I will be back love your humour of life.
april,
Thanks for stopping over from your lovely site. Another November child, another Valentine's Day conception, give or take. Truly children of romance.
whitey,
Welcome. When I'm humorous, I'm humorous, but when I'm dour, I'm very, very dour.

Regarding your comment: "The major good any of us can do for our community is to be self-supporting."
I agree, and would add the best thing we could do for ourselves is the same: Satisfaction of accomplishment and realization of capacity leads to more individual happiness than just getting stuff... especially from others.
The concept bleeds into post-work life too; when my parents retired I realized one of the best things parents can do for their adult children is to retire well. I was one of the lucky ones.
I wish you, yours, and all the followers a Merry Christmas and a thoughtful next year.
Lawson,
I have never heard it put as well: "One of the best things parents can do for their adult children is to retire well." Yes, happiness lies in self-realization, and we give no gift to our kids more important than the example of achievement through diligent effort. A Merry Christmas to you, too.
smiles,
