Thoughts for a Thursday

"I had this dream where I died and they buried me and my dog got loose and they found my slippers at the foot of my grave."

"A country flourishes sharing the same belief system and disintegrates sharing the same denial system."

"It is every parent's goal to have an average kid who is exceptional in all things."

"People are always trying to attach labels to people with tattoos."

"It's thought that Adam was the first human to make a telescope of his two hands, Eve the first to make a pair of binoculars."

"To raise extra cash, families are more and more into corporate sponsorship of traditional events. Just recently in my neighborhood there's been the American Express Billy Smith Baptism, the Oscar Mayer Goldberg Bar Mitzvah and the Pennzoil Betty and Marv Johnson 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration."

paranoia: the belief that everyone is out to get you.
neurosis: the belief that everyone is out to give you back.

"Look at it this way. You're not being ignored. You're successfully avoiding the paparazzi."

"Life is made simpler by having a long list of slights that you don't have to take exception to."

"The most difficult thing to represent digitally is suffering."

"A country flourishes sharing the same belief system and disintegrates sharing the same denial system." And thus we see the reason for our country's sad state of affairs.

"People are always trying to attach labels to people with tattoos." I keep snickering over this one. Dang, you're good.

"It's thought that Adam was the first human to make a telescope of his two hands, Eve the first to make a pair of binoculars." Speaking in Eve's defense, oh wait...there were no other women.

"paranoia: the belief that everyone is out to get you.
neurosis: the belief that everyone is out to give you back." You would have saved me thousands of dollars of college tuition if you had only told me this 30 years ago. :)

Randi,
As always, you are welcome on my wave length. It's fun broadcasting when you know there's an antenna out there for even your weakest signal.

nAncY,
Thanks and welcome.

It's perhaps just as well that my comments failed to post. I loved this post butI STILL...despite Randi expanding on it, don't understand the Adam & Eve one. My antenna was unfortunately snapped in half a long time ago!

Ken,

I'm going to get into trouble, explaing this. It's just the cliche (very politically incorrect) that a woman's curiosity is more apt to be directed to what's going on about her, as opposed, say, to gazing at Mars. Of course, birdwatchers would point out that binoculars also have scientific uses. Anyway, it's really hilarious, right?

I'm not sure what it is about dog quotes of yours that just appeal to me... even though my dog never brings me my slippers.

To be clear, my kid is not average. He is absolutely exceptional at many things, and exceptionally terrible at other things.

tattoos and labels... ha ha ha.. is that what I inspired?

Lastly, I do an exceptional job of avoiding the paparazzi folk..

Daisy,
Thanks. Actually, you inspired more good stuff on labeling people, but it's too good for the blog; holding it back for the book.

Right! Well, at least I'm smiling and not puzzled anymore. Hilarious? Right!

Oh my.. now you've got me wondering?!!

And funny you should say that it's too good for the blog, and you're saving it for the book - it makes me realize that some of us only get as good as our blogs - there is no holding back for the book! And I mean that in the best way because I've got nothing more to save it for!

Love your blog - can't imagine how much I'd love your book.

Daisy,

You'll admit it's a good ploy -- saying that your blog would be better if it included all the good stuff you're saving for a book you'll never write.

Yes, that's a good ploy...I can't tell, were you pulling my leg, or are you pulling it now Gosh, isn't it terrible when I have to ask for the truth?

Robert Brault said...

Daisy,
Yes and no -- and possibly maybe. And with that, we move on.

Thankyou Robert!

On another level, you might want to reverse the names. ;)

Yes Obviously it is, what I have observed till my 28 years of age. The little things like a silent flow of air can determine from where the storm will come from.

Anonymous,
Your comment brought me back here after 18 months, and I'm astonished at the exchange that went on. Don't know why I didn't answer the last three comments. Looks like my joke, "holding back for the book" was taken quite seriously. Believe me, I am among those who are no better than their blog.
