Absolutely The Last Post Until August 15
It seems, in deleting my post last week, I created a "Not Found" link in many sites that connect to "A Robert Brault Reader." Rather than have that sit around for six weeks, I thought I'd post a new current link. Some of the following are from the old post; some new. My thanks to Sue and Ken for their comments on my deleted post; I just felt that a few of the thoughts were below standard. Cheers to all.
For a parent, there is no scientific theory of the universe that sufficiently answers the question: "Who entrusted to me this child?"
"Now and then it's good to list all the things you regularly do for which there used to be a good reason."
"There comes a morning in life when you wake up a new person; that is to say, you wake up the same person but you realize it's nobody's fault but your own."
"In the end it comes down to whether those who are willing to die for liberty are all dead."
Perhaps there should be one day a week when you tackle your "Things I Gotta Undo" list.
"If I have a regret in life, it's that I lost my childhood view of the world only because I wasn't smart enough at the time to argue for my position."
Occasionally ask, "What do I believe that gives me no advantage over anyone?"
"In your own eyes, do justice, and let others determine if it be charity."
"To deny any truth is to begin a chain of denial that must eventually deny every truth there is."
"Perhaps God made the elephant to prove that a vegetarian can rule its habitat."
" If you will focus not on what you are but on what you might become, the first thing you will find yourself doing is changing your politics."

Am given to understand that in case a devotee takes a step to meet - the Lord takes hundred ! Am sure it must be pretty difficult for you Robert to resist the pull of "devotees" here - who thoroughly enjoy the pearls! Gratefully thinking about the things to undo!
I can't agree that the last post wasn't up to standard, but this one'll do, too!
=)
Raj,
A blogger, I fear, has no devotees -- at best a few friends who have their own lives, their own pursuits, often their own blogs. I'm happy to count you one of them.
Sue,
Thank you as always for your kind assessments.

Hi Robert
I guess you had one of those 'Gotta Undo' days.
I should be regularly asking about my beliefs that gives me no advantage over anyone, but occasionally is nearer the truth and is better than never.
I look forward to August 15th. Enjoy the break.
Ken,
If I could undo the undoing of that post, I would. But you can't undo things undone, I guess. My apologies for losing your comment.

I am grateful for your insights Robert; this week I especially am touched by ... "If I have a regret in life, it's that I lost my childhood view of the world only because I wasn't smart enough at the time to argue for my position." But it is never too late to listen to that girl who was too scared to speak up. Thank you.
"If I have a regret in life, it's that I lost my childhood view of the world only because I wasn't smart enough at the time to argue for my position.".........and for many that childhood extents for long and long ....
in maturity inferiority masquerades as smartness !
"Perhaps God made the elephant to prove that a vegetarian can rule its habitat." truth
indeed..it's worth pondering.. ...
rgrds,
salu.
Maxie,
Your wonderful blog, both your art and your words, are proof enough that you haven't lost your childhood wonder or the imagination to express it.
salu,
The world has changed not one whit from the world that awed us as children. It's a matter of opening one's eyes.

Good Morning Robert!
A quick note about preserving posts ...
You can set up your blogger account to email you {or anyone else} each post as soon as it is published. Pictures embedded in the post are included; comments are not. It does not send a new email if you make further changes...it will be the "first publishing" that is emailed to you. This makes a nice 'document' to print, if desired. {It's under Settings: Email & Mobile - then choose an email address to have each post emailed}.
On to your wonderful words...
For this one:
"For a parent, there is no scientific theory of the universe that sufficiently answers the question: "Who entrusted to me this child?"
I think only two would have the answer to this question, God ~ and Erma Bomback! {I miss her writing and reread her books often}.
I've asked myself if I'm willing to die for liberty... and then I become deeply grateful to those who have and to those who risk it all!
All of these are gems, Robert... but the one about the elephant made me smile :D
I have a beautiful photo of an elephant that my cousin took while on a safari. I will be on a quest of my own to find it and post your comment along with it ~
Thank you for the wonderful thoughts and smiles!
Wishing you and Joan a lovely summer,
~Maria
Maria,
Thanks for the tip, although I'd love to have the discipline never to change a post or delete a post. I've never understood whether the Google Reader gets updated or not. Somehow the original is still around. I get emails referring to stuff I've deleted, and The Quote Garden has picked up a half-dozen quotes of mine from deleted posts. (Shows what I know.)
Erma Bombeck was a favorite of my mom's. Never had to worry about a gift for Mom when a new Bombeck was on the racks.
Wishing you a great Jul-Aug.
As long as I'm around, I hope you'll keep pounding your keyboard and grinding out thoughtful comments. They're always so fresh, unprentous, and wise. I swear, you shoulda been a philosopher or a poet. Perhaps you are. ~don

Thanks. Actually I'm a poet and a preacher and a problem when I'm stoned. (Apologies to Kris K.)

Thank you. Your blog is a compelling and valuable read, both for those who wrestle with tough childhood memories and those more fortunate.

Hi Robert,
I'm new at your blog, but I do really like your blog. If not agree to all the quotes you made, I definitely agree to most of them.
Pleasure to find your blog.
