More Thoughts from a Miscellaneous Mind

"Question reality, especially if it contradicts the evidence of your hopes and dreams."

"I was the architect of my dreams but forgot to contract a builder."

"Seize every opportunity along the way, for how sad it would be if the road you chose became the road not taken."

"Love thy neighbor, even though you have wronged him and, yea, even though he has forgiven you."

"I have learned over the years that my eyes can construct a figment as easily as my imagination."

"In the realist you have the sorry sight of the five senses deprived of their imagination."

"I regret less the road not taken than my all-fired hurry along the road I took."

"Yes, it would be fun to go back and travel the road not taken, especially with the grandkids."

"Meanwhile, the traffic control helicopter reports a three mile backup on the road less traveled by."

"It's comforting to know that the person I might have been would today also be retired and playing golf."

"Sometimes my dog seems deep in thought, pondering, I suppose, such mysteries as why dogs were expelled from the Garden of Eden."

"It is hard to exchange thoughts with someone who just wants to show you their brain tattoo."

Thought on a sandy beach: "A mother never stops chasing her child down to the water's edge."

I often muse about the road not taken -- and I agree with the thought that it would be most fun explored with a grandchild. They seem to have such curiosity and that wide-eyed excitement that just pulls a willing grandma right along with them. Lovely thoughts! Thank you!

Forgot to mention that I borrowed it today and thank you for that, too!

Two favorites today, though they are always hard to pick:

"Seize every opportunity along the way, for how sad it would be if the road you chose became the road not taken."

"Meanwhile, the traffic control helicopter reports a three mile backup on the road less traveled by."

=)

PS. No worries...I comment not out of a sense of obligation but because I feel the need to express my appreciation. (And I'm glad to see you posting more frequently.)

Looks as if someone else enjoys Robert Frost. I liked this one a lot. In athletic lingo, I'd have called the Vacation pics piece a bunt. This one was a homerun. Printer delayed delivery, but yours will be among the first ones sent as soon as they arrive! ~don

Jan,
Took a peek at "Gram-tastic" and have never seen a thought of mine framed more delightfully. You are blessed with some special grandkids.

Sue,
Thanks again. I very much like the distinction you draw -- the difference between "performing a kindness" and being a kind person fulfilling a need.

Anon/Don,
Looking forward to receiving my copy. I expect a "tater" from you, or at the very least, a four-base bunt.

"I was the architect of my dreams but forgot to contract a builder." Such a distilled expression of reality Robert - how does one walk past this garden without acknowledging it - grateful !

Hi Robert!
I read your quote tonight and totally relate to it:
"I regret less the road not taken than my all-fired hurry along the road I took."

and, I read this one tonight and totally relate to it also:
"It is impossible to walk rapidly and be unhappy."
-Mother Teresa

Life is a mystery!

Enjoy this sunny week!

Raj,
Thanks. I consulted my "observer within" for that one -- and most others.

Maria,
Greetings. I have not been in such an all-fired hurry as not to allow for a lot of "rapid walks" in my life -- thankfully.

I have had my fill of sunny, hot and dry. Rooting for fringe effects of Hurricane Earl (a good case of being careful what you wish for.)

My favorite:
"I regret less the road not taken than my all-fired hurry along the road I took."

Amen.

Karen,
A glance at your blog is enough to convince anyone that you have not missed much along the way. Thank you for your essay on Hopefulness. It is full of guideposts for a directed and fulfilling life.

Your thoughts on a sandy beach are quite astute. When my kiddos were little and we lived in FL, I don't think my bottom ever touched that beach blanket, lest they be swept away by a wave or encounter some other danger only a mom could imagine. I probably should have relaxed more, but I guess that's just one of those hindsight lessons.

P.S. All 3 kids survived our beach outings :)

Karla,
Thanks for noticing that one. Let us all praise Survival, which has always struck me as the goal of beach outings with kids.
