This Perfect World

Each day, awakening, are we asked to paint the sky blue? Need we coax the sun to rise or flowers to bloom? Need we teach birds to sing, or children to laugh, or lovers to kiss? No, though we think the world imperfect, it surrounds us each day with its perfections. We are asked only to appreciate them, and to show appreciation by living in peaceful harmony amidst them. The Creator does not ask that we create a perfect world; He asks that we celebrate it.

These words do celebrate a perfect world, linguistically.

Thanks, Robert!

Added light to my day today. Lovely lovely thought. And so true -- I try hard to appreciate what has been given to us and this is a beautiful reminder.

Becky, Ilse, Sue, Jan, Adver Sario,

Thank you for appreciative comments. There is, of course, nothing new in this sentiment, and I risk a comparison to Voltaire's Dr. Pangloss in extolling this "best of all possible worlds." My point is that, to make the world perfect, we need not improve upon the Creator's handiwork; we need only recognize that we possess already the requisites of our happiness and that waging war on our fellow creatures cannot add to them.

Ariana,
Here is a fervent wish that whatever has caused your sadness soon melts away. I can think of no one whose thoughtfulness and creativity is more likely to provide consolations. My heartfelt best.

THE OLD GEEZER,
Checked out your blog and find a lot to like (as, clearly, many others do) -- but I should caution you that I do not espouse any particular religious belief and, indeed, my references to God should always be taken as figurative. If you are comfortable with that, welcome.

Indeed....all things denote there is a God. He surely is pleased when we notice and are grateful. Lovely thought...

Everything you ever wanted to know about Robert Brault...but were afraid to ask:
In June of 2008 you wrote:

It now appears, thanks to the Internet, that I am quoted on 50,000 or more sites by people who have no idea who I am and would be most disappointed to find out.
Just to update you..I have now found over 60,100 sites where your quotes are posted(60,101 if you count mine...which you totally should rb).And..we are NOT disappointed.

vocalise,
Greetings. It's great to hear again from an old friend.

Raj,
You are too kind. I would take any "one of the above." Thanks.

Ariana,
Thanks for words of support -- and for again framing my quotes in a most engaging way. As to the "love of your life," you have much reason to be proud.

smiles all,
rb

Robert---I am amazed by the amount of thoughtful/barbed observations you make. There are too many to comment on individually (although I love the one about the "family reunion" that happened in the same year as your supposed demise, and I am going to quote you on my blog about being the "architect of my dreams").

I like to stand at the back of the group when getting my picture taken, so there is just this head jutting out between two other people's shoulders. The head is bad enough...

Sioux,
Welcome - and thanks. I've taken a pleasurable peek at your blog and expect to be a regular visitor. Thanks, too, for the endorsement and for your prominent use of my quote. You're very kind.

smiles,
rb
