A mix of old and new thoughts.
"On the whole I would not wish to live a dog's life, except for the times when you show up to help and are told to go lie down."
"Life is mostly a good reason to go for a walk with your dog."
"An old dog, even more than an old spouse, always feels like doing what you feel like doing."
"If animals could talk, the world would lose its best listeners."
Sometimes my dog looks at me as if to say, "Did you know that petting an animal is a wonderful way to relieve stress?"
"Ever wonder where you'd end up if you took your dog for a walk and never once pulled back on the leash?
I almost can't bear the look in a dog's eyes that says, "I would gladly be your soulmate, if I only had a soul."
"It is now believed that the need to have ten cats is a sublimated desire to have twenty cats."
If animals don't talk, how do they say to themselves, "I guess I'll go take a nap."
"After a scolding, a cat goes about its business. A dog slinks off into a corner and pretends to be doing a serious self-reappraisal."
"If you could combine a cat and a dog, you'd have man's best accomplice."
"There is no better actor than a dog pretending to be as sad and lonely as you are."
"My dog and I have enjoyed many a silence together, a conversation always resumed exactly where left off."
"If you don't feel a bond with the animals who share with us this moment in eternity, you don't comprehend eternity."
"Man is the highest-rated animal, at least among the animals who returned the questionnaire."
"You wonder who would be the highest-rated animal if it were determined by a show of paws."

"My dog and I have enjoyed many a silence together, a conversation always resumed exactly where left off." such a pure expression Robert. Grateful. At times, one wonders, whether this was floating somewhere within to find its fulfilment through you!
Enjoyed reading these, they are all so true. I would be lost without my constant companion. They say everyone that owns pets has one that becomes their heart and Daisy is my "heart pet" and fulfills all your quotes for me.

Love them all, as usual, but these are my favorites today.
=)
"Ever wonder where you'd end up if you took your dog for a walk and never once pulled back on the leash?" Someday soon, I'll find out.
Loved them all but this struck a cord.
Thanks AGAIN ~ My Brother, lost his BELOVED dog this week. Lucy had been a member of our family for 12 years (since my brother was a Sophomore in College). As I often do, I turned to your blog in search of something inspiring to quote in a tribute ~ and look at these GEMS. You truly are AMAZING. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

A word of caution:
"Ever wonder where you'd end up if you took your dog for a walk and never once pulled back on the leash?
Sometimes you would end up in someone's bushes rolling in stinky poo.
Raj,
That's the goal around here -- to say things that when you read them, you think, "I'm so glad I thought of that."
Marlene,
I suspect that Daisy is returning the "heart" you extend to her. Cheers to you both.
Sue,
Thanks. I'm glad to see one of the new ones included. Lately, I've been borrowing pretty heavily from the archives.
Arkansas Patti,
Thank you. But beware of poop in the bushes.
The Blonde Mort,
Thank you back. Lucy, I'm sure, will live in fond memories, and I'm delighted to have put one or two into words, if indeed I have.
karen,
Oh, dear, a realist has wandered into our garden of fancy. (smile)
I'm not so sure about the "dog has no soul" thing. My question is, "how could any creature love so purely without one." It's difficult to imagine a heaven without their kind.
David,
Then, too, a creature capable of lamenting that he doesn't have a soul might, just possibly, have a soul.
Note to readers: Do click on David's name and check out his nationally-published books, most pertinently "And Thereby Hangs a Tale."

Brilliant Robert! I love the questionnaire. I also like the idea of going where a dog leads...all I need is a dog!
Ken,
Well, you can try going where your cat leads, but the last time I did that, I ended up under the front porch.

Hi Robert ~ I'm smiling at all of these... and I especially appreciate the first one!
"On the whole I would not wish to live a dog's life, except for the times when you show up to help and are told to go lie down."
Wouldn't that be great!
Thank you ~ as always ~ for these wonderful gems!

Maria,
Looking back, there have several times in my life when the best help I could give was to go lie down.

You are right on about life, it really is a good reason to walk your dog. Thank you for making me smile. I used one of your quotes on my nature blog today. Thank you so much for your humor!!!
Rebecca

Jeanette
