Assorted Thoughts, Mostly Jelly Centers

"Come, I will share with you my knowledge -- or at least the memory of what I once knew."

"Whatever you put aside to seek happiness, remember where you put it."

"How, child, do I know where you're headed?  Because I'm there, and I can see you coming."

"When you think about it, what could be more deceptive than a Ponzi scheme of the people, by the people and for the people."

"Every pet owner is part paranoid, seeking a companion who cannot possibly be part of the plot."

"Say what you want about aging, it's still the only way to have old friends."

"There are people who live their whole lives on the default settings, never realizing you can customize."

"In the triumph of proving some critic wrong, we sometimes forget the friend we proved right."

"What do I ask of life except the chance to live yesterday over again and tomorrow in advance."

I have this friend Les, who's written his autobiography and wants me to suggest a title.  I'm thinking, The Road Les Traveled By.

"Each day learn something new, and just as important, relearn something old."

"In the happiest of our childhood memories, our parents were happy, too."

"Everyone who succeeds writes a book, so if I ever by some wild chance succeed, I'm going to write a book on how to succeed by some wild chance."

"It's hard to make up your bed while you're still sleeping in it. Hard to make up your mind for the same reason."

"Meanwhile, sales of my book, Work Your Tail Off and Succeed, have reached single digits."

Another great batch Robert. I particularly like 'It's hard to make your bed...' I just don't know how you are able to produce such gems.

Ken,
Thanks -- and welcome back from Brittany. Your photos show some pretty impressive masonry work, with the style inclined to the abstract, I thought. What a diversified talent you are.

Love the idea of me being where a child I love is heading (duh! how come I didn't come up with that? Because I'm not you!) and maybe even being able to help bring them along. I love it - -a smile from me today, to!

Oops - -typo up there -- too!!

This one makes me think that is not only child needs happiness and deserve it too... It's hard not to be hard to our parents.

"It's hard to make up your bed while you're still sleeping in it. Hard to make up your mind for the same reason." Once again, deep gratitude for these gems Robert. Over the years I have found great value in mentoring. Delight to see the way you nurture this community !

Karen,
Trouble is, life is a little like eBay. You customize the settings, and it keeps setting them back to the defaults.

Sue,
That pops a new thought into my head, "The first goal of writing is to have one's words read successfully."

Jan,
When my email signaled your comment, I said to myself, "Bet I know which one she likes."

Dwi,
Another way to say it, "There are no happier childhood memories than of the moments we made our parents happy."

Raj,
I see in myself a whole lot more of Odysseus than of Mentor, but thank you.

smiles all,

Love this one! Might just have to print it out and stick it to my wall so I can see it every morning when I get up!

judyblackcloud,

Thanks. At age 72, I have two words on my wall where I can see them before I get out of bed in the morning: STEP DOWN.

Please pardon my language but I know of no other way to express this: Damn, you're good.

"How, child, do I know where you're headed? Because I'm there, and I can see you coming."

My favorite. Sadly, sometimes you see them heading for the trouble you somehow got mired in. But in it's best context, it's a joyous statement.

Terri,
I've always known that you have a way with words. Thanks.

karen,
I wrote the words as a cautionary statement, but you're right, it can certainly be taken as an affirmation: "Keep coming, you're on the right path." Hey, I only write 'em.

Love the book title. I'd read such a book (and not only because that's my name, too).

If I can evoke uncontrollable laughter and memories of a carefree innocent childhood, I've done a pretty good day's work. Thanks.

Hey, Rob !

I always read your saying at various websites, but I never really looked into them. Repition got the best of me, so ofcourse, I went on your site today, & I am honestly stunned !
The one that caught me was "...where hope would otherwise become hopelessness, it becomes faith." Most probably because I can relate the it ? Ahahaha. (:
Also, why is everyone so awestruck by the 'making your bed/mind' saying ? Clearly, I've misinterpreted.
I also saw another one that went something like this. "The fool is that who reads wise sayings instead of experiencing..." This is so odd, because I'm very, very young, & one of my most favourite hobbies is reading 'wise sayings'. My logic is that, if people spend their lives discovering the truth about anything, & write a saying, they do it for another's sake, I suppose. Why not inherit in the wisdom given by the experienced ?
Also, do you have some sort of fan mail, in which I could ask something of you personally ? Meaning, not as a comment, but intend it for you to read aside ?

Many thanks, & a job, excellently done !

strawberry,
Thanks for your interest and your kind words. If you don't mind, I'll beg off from trying to explain my sayings. It's a pretty futile exercise when you stop to think about it -- trying to explain something you've already expressed as clearly as you can. I do respect your opinion and appreciate your graciousness in commenting. You can find my email address by clicking on "View my complete profile," above.
