I won't be posting again until mid-April. In the meantime, I invite new readers to browse the archives. The search engine on the right sidebar is quite good at locating items by subject.
Here are a few "parting shots."
"There is in every life some perfect thing that makes all the imperfections tolerable and the thought of any other life inconceivable."
"Beware a belief that has long stood the test of not being challenged."
"Occasionally in our busy lives we should pause to weed out those of our beliefs that are preposterous."
"All your life you pretend to be someone else, and it turns out that you were someone else pretending to be you."
"There are beliefs so enduring that they do not require that anyone believe them."
"If you could travel back from the future to the present moment, what would you do differently?"
"It is sad when two people turn from the paths they're traveling, and their paths go on to cross without them."
"I find in old age that it's possible to revisit the past, the one requirement being that you come as you are."
"You get to an age when no matter what happens you wish somebody would put a stop to it."
"We pick on the devil, but he's only representing his base constituency."
"The trouble that finds me and not my child has taken the decoy."
"It is a perversely human perception that animals in their native habitat are running wild."
"A watched child never learns."
"Though confined to our destiny, we do get to pick the color scheme."
"As you get older, you still seek the meaning of life, but it becomes more important to seek it in good company and in pleasant places and with 4 o'clock cocktails."

Thanks, Robert. I'll be patiently waiting your return....and as usual....I have no particular favorite of these, although this one did stand out: "The trouble that finds me and not my child has taken the decoy." Oh, BTW, I found a new love in my life....
Hi Robert
If I could go back in time, the list of things I would change will be too long to include here.
Have yourself a good break and I look forward to your earliest return.
"If you could travel back in time to the present moment, what would you do differently?"hmmmmmmmmm
I think i would do everything the same...
"We pick on the devil, but, hey, he's only representing his base constituency..( this one will stick with me)....
Enjoy your break,RB..I will miss my other side of my brain..
Oh, LOVE the thought about decoying trouble away from your child -- (you knew I would, didn't you?!). I think that's just what parents and those of us who love children do.
Have a great break - -I will miss you -- but it's nice knowing you will be back. Thanks again for sharing what's inside.
Enjoy your break my Friend. I'm still browsing here, so maybe I can get buy until you return. Whatever, enjoy the break, be safe and we'll see you upon your return.
I think I agree with Karen about NOT changing a thing should I be able to travel back in time to the present. I've had problems enough, don't want to take chances of rooting out more ......
"The trouble that finds me and not my child has taken the decoy."
"A watched child never learns."
"Though confined to our destiny, we do get to pick the color scheme."
These are my three favorites today. I look forward to your return!
=)
I am a new reader and I am looking forward to your return already! I have already read most of the archives and have a great respect for how your mind interprets the most mundane things in life. So glad to know I'm not alone in my thoughts. Have a Happy Break!
Say it isn't so!! I will try to bear up. At first mid April sounded so far off but it is really only a month. Do hurry back. You will be missed.
As "A watched child never learns." while "you still seek the meaning of life" some "get to pick the color scheme." as they "haven't changed their mind." Yes " one realizes that one was not happy all the time." You continue to add to happiness for many Robert, Grateful
I really enjoy reading your posts. Glad you're not leaving for too long!
I will, for sure, visit you often. With your words, you make me smile...you make me do a bit of introspection...you always leave me wanting more. Enjoy your time away. There are many who wait for your return.
Blessings,
M.
I will still be a frequent visitor here, browsing your words of wisdom ~
The snow is slowly melting away ... the birds are returning... the day is longer...
Enjoy the coming of springtime...

Mr. Brault, I opened up to your blog today and found a gem waiting for me: "A watched child never learns." Boy, did I ever need to receive that gift today! Thanks for that one!
Patti Fowler
People are going to be quoting you for many years to come, Mr. Brault! What a nice way to live on! :)
I've been visiting your blog for a while now, and enjoy your little quotes so much I have you in my toolbar's "most visited sites."
I can always count on you for a thought provoking smile!
Patti Fowler
All,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. You are good friends. Patti, to quote Woody Allen, "I don't want to live on through my quotes; I want to live on by not dying."

i am fairly new here...and
hope to see more upon your return.
"You get to an age when no matter what happens you wish somebody would put a stop to it."
"It is a perversely human perception that animals in their native habitat are running wild."
The first so funny and sadly true. The second once again challenging the obscene myth that "man is the measure of all things"
Have a lucky break with lots of leisure and enjoyment.
Typo Robert-I meant lovely break, not lucky, though luck is certainly nothing to scoff at.
nothingprofound,
Thanks. It's about time I acknowledged my appreciation of your writings by becoming a follower -- and so I have.

Robert-
My first visit to your blog and I love it.
Have a great break.

"If you could travel back in time to the present moment, what would you do differently?"
I would change everything about 1969.
Sister,
Hmm, I guess you hate trips to the moon, whether by rocket or LSD.
Actually, my intent in this line is to ask what you would do if you could travel back from the future to the present moment.

"Hmm, I guess you hate trips to the moon, whether by rocket or LSD."
The moon is fascinating, but I would say "no" to LSD. Clearly I missed the meaning of your lovely quote. However, if given the chance for a do-over, it would be 1969.
Have a great day!
I've only just stumbled across your site Rob & I fell for your words instantly. (still wondering how you magically created so many wonderful phrases just for me). Here's hoping you don't stay away too long - I'm hooked!
Anon,
Actually I created only one of the phrases just for you. You get to decide which one.

"As you get older, you still seek the meaning of life, but it becomes more important to seek it in good company and in pleasant places and with 4 o'clock cocktails."
♥Love this
How is my friend? Looking forward to hearing more from you...
I'm thinking of writing some quotes myself... I need help on the internet and writing though.
I LOVE YOUR QUOTES...
best of wishes,
SArAH
Ariana,
Hate to be a stranger, but lately I'm been confining my visits to sites rated for a general audience.
sarah,
Thanks. A good quote doesn't take any writing skill. Just put it down as it occurs to you.

I came across your quotes upon Thinkexist and decided to Google you. Your quotes are fantastic! You're a great inspiration!
I've been looking at your site and going down the page and reading some of your quotes and nearly all of them seem to be brilliant. I love writing and I've been writing since I was old enough to put a pencil in my hand and make words on paper. For the past 3 years I've been writing around 100 poems every school year, so I guess I have some what experience, but I don't even want to know how much experience you have because you're incredibly great at writing from what I've read so far. I know I'm just a kid, but never stop writing. Don't ever give up. If the world turns on you and stabs you in the back, writing will always be there to back you up and help you. Writing is incredible.
Jessica,
Thank you. You're kind to comment.
Saraah, (oops, one more 'a'), Saraaah,
Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, writing is incredible, but whether it's writing, or painting, or sitting in a garden, or strolling down a country lane, or watching the tide roll in, anything that encourages thoughtful introspection is a chance to realize the possibility each of us has to become human.

"If you could travel back from the future to the present moment, what would you do differently?" Well , it depends what does the future holds for me, that i would want to get back to the present to change it, but then think about it, quirky, if at the present you can surely say what you would do differently why would you wait for the future with all the hassle going back , and who knows , changing something else in the process think: What if i am back from future changing my past in present time, and do the changes so you dont have to look back with regret etc,, i hope you catched my point with english not being my main language and all..
Like they say "Don't put aside for tomorrow what you can do today" or Dont think tomorrow what would you change yesterday rather do today what you dont have to change tomorrow..
