Thoughts to Make You Stop and Wonder Why You Stopped

"There is a tendency to see divine intervention in things that happen in the normal course of miracles."

"Whether you think your kids love you or hate you depends pretty much on your interpretation of blank looks."

"You can't look at the stars without wondering how the goings-on on this planet will ever cover the overhead."

It would be interesting if the first communication picked up from outer space is a small voice singing, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star."

"In the end you don't so much find yourself as you find someone who knows who you are."

"What does it matter if a thing is fate or coincidence, if God knew."

"In America there is a presumption of innocence that one can only hope Wall Street finds embarrassing."

"You see in grown animals both an awareness of duty and a sense of guilt, which makes you wonder why they never check on their parents."

"I don't understand what it is to crave recognition.  I like recognition.  I crave chocolate."

"We don't hear from the dead, but then we don't usually hear from people who have everything they want."

"It's people who think they have you all figured out who give you your edge in life."

"Ever wonder what crime you committed that you are confined to a small enclosure above your sinuses, under permanent skull arrest?"

These are awesome tonight ~ every one!
I was just mentioning your blog to my sister. What a place of inspiration! I never leave without a smile and several lingering thoughts.

The first quote,
"There is a tendency to see divine intervention in things that happen in the normal course of miracles."
...is perfect with a post I'm composing tonight. I was inspired by Mattie's poem today {Spring in Late Winter}. How miraculous it is that so much life lies beneath the snow, underneath the frozen tree limbs.

Thank you Robert,
~Maria

All,
Thanks so much for your kind comments and for your regular visits here. They are appreciated beyond words. Maria, thanks especially for reminding me to take a peek at Mattie's blog. (mattieelliottjustforfunpoetry.blogspot.com)

Hi Robert
The interpretation of blank looks really made me smile...I had lots of flash-backs. Craving recognition was another that struck me.
If an active brain is associated with longevity of life, I would expect you to see in your 130th year at the very least.

Val,
Thanks. Some good laughs on "Joy in the Rain" this morning!

Ken,
The combined life spans of my dad and oldest brother total 102 years, so I guess I'll settle for 130.

Grateful Robert for simplifying my search to "find someone who knows who you are"

Loved the thought about God knowing the answers and the plan trumps fate/coincidence/whatever.

A smile for today - loved it.

Raj,
I, too, have never come away from your blog without knowing a little better who I am.

Jan,
Well put. It does in the end come down to God or whatever.

It is so true. ;) Can't compain though, raised my kids telling them everyday "I love you". And guess what? I get less and less of the blank looks and more of the I love yous. Not a rule though - I see more as a huge blessing.

Robert Brault said...

Izabel,
I guess that proves that huge blessings can come to you if you say to someone every day, "I love you."

Hi, Bob...I like your first line: "There is a tendency to see divine intervention in things that happen in the normal course of miracles." True enough...I myself experienced this phenomenon during my tragic moment when my husband and I had the car accident. During the normal course of the event, I was wondering why we were going in "slow-motion" instead of a fast cluttering crash...the truth was, I went into "near death experience" (NDE) and I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. And that is a miracle indeed because I was saved by divine intervention.

Tooth,
As I once said, "You don't have to believe in both guardian angels and miracles, but you have to believe in one or the other."
