Thoughts from the Oceanside

Here are a few thoughts that occurred to me this week while staring out at the ocean from under a beach umbrella. I've appended a few of my less-quoted oldies.

"In counting your blessings, be sure to count the things you can be happy without."

"If tomorrow you were granted everything you ever wished for, you could put on a heckuva yard sale."

"What a unique treasure are the things we have learned to live without, for no thief can take them from us."

"Whew, I just had this nightmare where a burglar broke in and left stuff."

"I am never five minutes into stripping the clutter from my life before I start running into the clutter that is my life."

"Eventually you come to realize that most people aren't looking for a fight but for someone to surrender to."

"I would love to go back and travel the road not taken, if I knew at the end of it I'd find the same set of grandkids."

"Insanity is a growing certainty that you haven't lost your mind after all."

"I would like to be the sort of friend that when I come visiting, you tidy up and not chase around trying to erase all signs of previous life."

Some of my less-quoted oldies

"Through both their lives, a mom never stops chasing her toddler down to the water's edge."

"How often we choose the safe path only to discover that it was not one of the choices."

"The human life span is an unresolved issue between God and garlic."

"Skepticism is a religion very rich in evangelists but very short on saviors."

"There's a book in all of us, which, in most cases, is a good place for it."

"Nobody has a stroke of dumb luck without thinking they can have a stroke of dumber luck."

Love all three of these, especially the last.

I loved each and every one of these today! Thank you! Just what I needed on the morning of my 51st birthday!

I'd love to be 51 again!
Well done, Robert. The unique treasure is such a good quote. Sorry, I had to single one out of the other gems.

Mo, Becky,
Thanks, pals. While it's great to be sage, my lifelong dream is to be garlic.

Sue,
Actually, I don't so much have a book in me as a very large refrigerator magnet.

Kathi,
Thanks and Happy Birthday. But don't think of yourself as being 51; think of yourself as being in your 52nd year, (smile)

Ken,
And just think, if you were 51 again, Kathi would be 17.

smiles all,

Raj,
Thanks as always (especially for your genius in finding connections between my random thoughts.)

Anon,
Welcome. It's fitting that you accidentally landed here because most of my thoughts are accidental.

Glad you like, but if we ever met, I think I'd just shut up and let you do the talking. (smile)

This one really made me laugh! I can see the visual so clearly! LOL!!! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. You've got so many awesome quotes! Glad I found your blog, now, too! Have a fun & wonder-full week! :)

The calendar thing? Can I order one right now? Maybe more. You know, Robert, this thing could take on a life of its own. Are you aware of THE SHACK, and how friends of the author literally got that thing up and scattered abroad? If a nucleus of your readers felt as strongly as I do about the quality of your work, the growth could be exponential. I've mentioned you several times to those who visit my blog and website. Would it hurt your feelings if I suggested that those of your readers who, like I, think your work is very worthy would share their opinion with their own circle of friends? don

Kim,
So glad I ran across you. For a site that's only been up and running a month, yours is chock full of entertainment.

Don,
Easy big fella, it's only a calendar. Many of the folks who wrote to Scott Cramer (I was copied to 120 emails) did promise to spread the word. In all, I'm completely happy with the response.

As for ordering, Northern Sun is still putting the thing together and would rather not take orders until it's ready to ship. All who wrote to them will ne notified by email, and I'll, of course, be sounding sirens on this blog.

smiles both,
