Robert! I know you didn't "need" a trip to Italy to write such intelligent, inspirational, amusing words...but you certainly came back with new, incredible words of wisdom for us. And those lines from unfinished novels --- WOW!
So happy you are one of "my people." (see my blog for explanation!)
Awesome! So many I love -- hard to choose favorites, but I suspect you can guess what they might be.
I think my favorite today is knowing where your children are headed because you are already there. Been there, done that, waiting for you!
Love it!
I could not even choose a favorite here. They were ALL my favorites.
=)
rb - I just want to let you know that I used another one of your quotes on my new blog, www.daisydogblog.blogspot.com. Feel free to take a peek. And, I found another one of your quotes in the text above that I'll be using in an upcoming blog. In fact, it gave me a Daisy Dog Blog idea! Love your writing,
Cyndy
P.S. I ordered a calendar and note card set, and I found out it was being shipped today. Can't wait to see them in full size!
You. Are. Awesome.
Becky, I do try on this blog to be all things to all people, but it has, in the end, come down to a small group of "my people" who like my writings and say so. Thanks for being one of them. I am certainly one of "your people."
Jan, you are certainly another that I gratefully regard as one of "my people," And, yes, I always do know which ones you'll like best.
Sue, ah, the parade of "my people" continues. There is none more reliable than you and none whose good opinion I value more.
Cyndy (Anon),
I must say, your new blog is the dandiest I've seen written by a dog at a nudist resort in a long time. I'm sure that there are a number of my readers who will enjoy Daisy's "views." Thanks so much for your purchase of cards and calendar.
Brault is God,
Hey, I'm pretty good but I'm not awesome. Well, maybe awesome, but I'm not the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, maybe the greatest thing since sliced bread but I'm not superhuman. Well, maybe superhumsn, but I'm not God. Well...
smiles all,
rb
My youngest still has a key and has just frightened the life out of me as I wandered into the kitchen for a painting break. He calls it payback. I call it cruel! Perhaps I should have been elsewhere doing exciting and glamorous things:)
Now, what was it that I put down in search of happiness...and where is it? I love your quote. It brings back some uncomfortable thoughts, but thankfully I remembered what and where I put down the things while chasing happiness.
"It is the help most needed that is never asked for, the cry most desperate that is never uttered."
I don't know if it's my favorite, but it is something I try to remember, and endeavor to be more observant so others don't have to ask. I will just know.
I don't know where you are, but I was in Worcester, MA this past week and my daughter didn't have power for 3 days. With a 5 year old and a 2 year old. Needless to say, our hotel room came in handy. It was a little brutal. When the power finally came back on, their furnace caught fire. This was a few minutes before they walked in the door so no harm was done. A series of little miracles.
Hi Robert! Thank you so much for the visit to my post. It always brings a smile!
I love these two quotes for captions under family photos I'm printing: "A parent's love is whole no matter how many times divided." I also love this one for a family photo caption: "How, child, do I know where you're headed? Because I'm there, and I can see you coming."
Perfect! {Thank you}
Wishing you a bright and sunny weekend ~ no snow in the forecast!
~Maria
Ken,
Love to see my quotes wrapped up in a personal vignette. You do know how to paint a picture. Thanks, old friend.
Karen,
Speaking of being there for your kids, you certainly were. Hope everyone is warm and comfy again. Joan and I are still enjoying our daughter's hospitality in Vermont, the power still out at our home in CT. Going back tomorrow, no matter what.
Maria,
You always pick the good ones. Wish I had the benefit of your judgment before I post. Yes, a fine sunny weekend, and a prediction of mild weather next week -- a bit of mercy for those without power in the Northeast.
smiles all,
rb
Love them all of course. Favorite is: "Man will have replicated his own intelligence not when he teaches a computer to reason but when he teaches a computer to have a nagging feeling in its circuits."
Still chuckling over that one. And btw- got a royal flush the other night, on an actual game of poker. Made me think of your quote I love so much :)
~Biddy
Not having children, some of these don't resonate quite as strongly for me, though I can see the truth of them and know my parent friends would love them.
But as a geek, I do love the one about teaching computers to have nagging feelings!!!
Biddy Stitch,
If you actually drew a royal flush, you are among God's chosen. I hope somebody raised you.
Kavey,
As geek to geek, glad you like it.
smiles both,
rb
The calendar and note cards arrived in the mail Friday. That was extremely fast service! The calendar and note cards look terrific, and I love how the photos correspondence with the quotes.

Cyndy/Anon,
It's thoughtful of you to post your appreciation. Thanks so much.
