Faith, Hope and Charity

"What is certainty but the refuge of those whose faith is not strong enough to entertain doubt."

"Of course I doubt.  I do not practice a certainty.  I practice a faith."

"If you listed all the reasons for your faith, and all the things that make you cry, it would be essentially the same list."

"Where hope would otherwise become hopelessness, it becomes faith."

"Though you lose all hope, there is still hope, and it loves to surprise."

"Hope is a walk through a flowering meadow.  One does not require that it lead anywhere."

"If hope and despair were paths to the same destination, which would you choose?"

"It is charity in the giver to require no thanks.  It is charity in the receiver to wish no revenge."

"Act always from a sense of common humanity, and let God judge if it be charity."

"The willingness to share does not make one charitable.  It makes one free."

LOVE the last one -- especially at this time of year. It's truly the time to count blessings but also to be willing to share. And it does indeed make you free. Beautiful.

These seem especially appropriate at Christmas time.

Very beautiful, Robert. I need to read some of them a few more times to make sure it sinks in. (And this is a GOOD thing...for you and for me!)

Well said my friend, well said. I have hung on by a thread with "Where hope would otherwise become hopelessness, it becomes faith." It's my current mantra....

Blessings,

All are so wonderful and meaningful, I can't pick just one out of the line-up. And perfect timing for me to stumble across. Thank you :)

FYI, Bob: We aren't sure how long it took the Magi (doesnt say there were three. Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar are legends. When the slaughter of the innocents occurred, it included young children up to age two, not the word for infants new born. Allowing for the fact that a cruel, nervous despot may have been unduly thorough, there's a window of time. If the wise men began their journey the night the star started shining, coming from a distance may have taken weeks, or months.). Anyhow, don't take too much time off. I'm among those who check by frequently for a Bob Brault "fix." A joyous, meaningful Christmas season to you. don

SO MUCH HEARTTOUCHING WORDS
FAITH IS SOME THING WHEN WE ARE COURAGE TO MOVE AHEAD , AND THERE IS ENOUGH SUPORT
SOME TIME OUR FAITH GOES DOWN, WHEN WE ARE HOPELESS WITH THE DEAL OF OUR LIFE

There is hope even after losing all hope is such a good quote to share with someone who has lost hope.
Enjoy your break, Robert. Have a great Christmas and I hope you return with your very own epiphany:)

Such food for the soul - thank you. A thought:

'Hopeless end' or 'endless hope'? Same ingredients but each leads one to a very different destination.

Thank you all. Won't be posting again until the new year, so here's wishing you all a peaceful and happy holiday season. Planning to return with the Wise Men, hoping for a small epiphany of my own.
