I'm so happy we aren't required to choose a favorite.
The 'second fiddle' is so fun to say, we can testify to 'once you learn to live with what you have...'and why didn't you tell me about the person offering me nothing but trouble when I was in college? :)
Hey, Prude. Looks like we had different experiences in college. If I could return to those days, I'd look for more trouble.
If a zookeeper lived in a cage, would that be a zookeeperkeeper? It would sure as heck be justice.
Buddy, that's pretty much my point. The zookeeper already lives in a cage, which he has been conditioned to believe is his natural habitat.
Lovely! The second fiddle thought really captured me today -- (maybe it's because I'm a music person!) -- love the concept and the way (as always) that it's so perfectly put.
"As any artist can tell you, it is easier to reach perfection than to stop there."
It really is hard sometimes for me to leave well enough alone.
Jan,
Love music myself, and I'm overdue to post a set of thoughts on it. Will get to work on it.
karen,
As I put it elsewhere, "One should not torture a painting that has already confessed."

"If you knew that some day you would live happily ever after,
would you really want to start now?"
Bravo; (another) one for the ages.
Covert,
Hey, guy. Long time. Don't know if it's one for the ages, but it's one for my age. Older you get, the more willing you are to postpone living happily ever after.
nys..
Good morning!
I'm enjoying my first cuppa coffee along with some of your wonderful words of wisdom ~
Third quarter at school was long and arduous as we prepared for the NYS assessment tests. When is Rod Serling going to start narrating?
I think this quote fits the bill...
"Sometimes we give up our dream to accept a larger role in someone else’s dream."
... with a change from "larger" to "smaller role."
Robert, I love the zoo quote! As a child, the zoo was such a special place, but I must say it saddens me now. Last year, Chris and I went to a zoo in Austin. It was for rescued animals, a bittersweet kind of place.
I will write this quote on my board today:
"See yourself always as cause, and perhaps a better world will be found among your effects."
... perfect for the day!
Blessings always,
Maria
Maria, what a delightful start to my day, hearing from you. I am still rejoicing in 2.5 inches of rain after four months of total dryness. Hooray! Proud, as always, to have you post my stuff. And always feel free to interpret in a way meaningful to you.
All best,
rb
As an artist, I know that your first quote is totally true.
Maxie, strikes me that you have both reached perfection and known enough to stop there. Hope there is much more to come in "Maxie's Life Unfinished." Glad to hear that you're on the mend.

rb
Robert...you are truly a blessing. Every single day I diligently check your blog to see the new posts of gems of wisdom. It's my daily dose of inspiration...Thank you.
Love
Kavita
Kavita, thanks. By "daily dose", I assume you mean Twitter. I'm finding it hard to keep up even a weekly dose on this blog.

One can only admire your generosity Robert to so beautifully illustrate "The .. natural habitat" so that
..."you may always have a dream."
without the... "fear of not knowing."
Raj, thanks. Again you prove that even my words can be rearranged to mean something. Smiles, rb.
