Thoughts From An Otherwise Productive Week

"What you discover about a dream come true is that you must keep on dreaming it to make it stay true."

"Get involved.  You don't want to look back on your life and realize that you successfully managed to stay out of it."

"Every partial failure is a partial success, so if you haven't succeeded, maybe you haven't had enough partial failures."

"We are each the star of our own situation comedy, and, with luck, the screwball friend in somebody else's."

Hamlet at 73:  "To sleep, perchance to dream.  To awaken, perchance to go to the bathroom."

Movie plot by boy's mom:  "Boy meets girl.  Boy loses girl.  Mom bakes boy's favorite cake."

"Mom -- the person most likely to write an autobiography and never mention herself."

"There is nothing you regret less as a grandparent than the opportunities you sacrificed to become a parent."

"It's not that I'm a Type-B personality.  It's that I'm driven by a passionate, all-consuming desire to take it easy."

How can such short statements make such great sense!? This blog should be required reading to get a "Twitter" license.

Keep it up!

Love the one about the zoo keeper! Yes we are all in a zoo and the buildeburg group think they are our keepers!

the grandparent one is way too true!

Awesome! I so love the grandparent quote because grandma-hood is truly the sweetest gift I've ever been given -- such a payoff! And I love that I can be the screwball friend in someone else's sit-com and the star of my own. LOVE your words!!

I just love you (yes, I dared say it!). I have enjoyed many of your quotes for years, but just now thought to look to see if you had a site up. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world; you help increase its beauty.

Haven't had a chance to stop by in a while. Glad I have the chance tonight (via a lovely bout of insomnia).

I still love your wit...

"We are each the star of our own situation comedy, and, with luck, the screwball friend in somebody else's."

{Result = laughter; and although this one is so cheesy I still love it because I laughed out loud realizing that I am most certainly my best friend's Ethel - will definitely be posting this one}

And I still love your wisdom...

"Sometimes we give up our dream to accept a larger role in someone else’s dream."

{Result = tears}

That which I love best about your writing and your blog is the perfectly balanced tally of laughter and tears results. Thank you, as always!

Buddy,
Hope everything's well in the canine world. Actually, I wasn't trying to make sense this week. Oh, well.

Anon,
Actually, it's proof that the Bilderberg cabal actually exists -- "Where there's a zoo, there must be a zookeeper."

Eva,
Yes, while some may say, "Why did I ever become a parent?" -- nobody ever said, "Why did I ever become a grandparent."

Jan,
Thank you. The word "payoff" so accurately describes becoming a grandparent -- sometimes a screwball grandparent."

Little Bits,
Much appreciate the kind words. It's great to have you aboard.

Terri,
How great to hear from you! Your wonderful site, "The Quote Garden" is my showcase to the world and the main conduit by which my thoughts get quoted elsewhere on the net. Without you, I'd still be posting to immediate relatives only. Thanks so much.

smiles all,
rb

What a great start to my day.
I'm the mom in the movie plot, my mom was the one who would write an autobiography and not mention herself and my husband is hoping he isn't Hamlet when he's 73.

You are amazing, commenting on those who comment on you.
