More From Our Resident Cynic

"Life is a series of events that happen in such a way that it seems to be your fault."

"If you let people treat you like a nobody, you have nobody to blame."

"The concept of Original Sin is proof that it's never too late to blame yourself for everything that ever happened."

"It's amazing what you can learn by listening to people you don't want to hear it from."

Hard-Learned Lesson #36:  "The people in your life who don't need an invitation still like to get one."

"If bankers were astronomers, every sunrise would be an event that no one could possibly have seen coming."

"The problem with making a choice is that something always happens afterwards and you think you chose it."

If I may insert a question here, "When do I get to commit the sins I'm being punished for?"

Thought at a tag sale:  "Whoever said that something is better than nothing seriously underestimated nothing."

"Nothing lasts forever -- and forever doesn't last, either."

Once again, you have a crop of winners here. But I still have a favorite:

"If you let people treat you like a nobody, you have nobody to blame."

Robert, the first was so witty and brilliant I had to stop there. I consider that enough pleasure for one evening. I'll come back later for more.

"If you let people treat you like a nobody, you have nobody to blame." Graceful as ever Robert.

Thanks again, good friends. A caution -- I've changed a number of the quotes in this post, hoping to make it a better legacy should it prove to be my last. (Always the chance)

Re your reply above: Mike says it sounds a little like remembering to wear clean underwear when you go out. I'm glad dogs don't have that problem!

Buddy, Now you've got me wondering if I changed my underwear this week.

I like both of these. I really did learn the hard-learned lesson once. When I didn't send my mom an invitation to my college graduation 'cause I knew she was coming anyway! :-D Now I am older and know better. ;-)

If bankers...made me smile, and the rest were predictably brilliant for RB quotes. A second reading pushes 'If I may insert a question here' up the table (He always seems to get the blame).

ps, Forever does last if you recycle it...or suck it slowly:)

Ken, thanks. I will anxiously await the painting you come up with to illustrate "sucking slowly on forever."

"Nothing lasts forever...and forever doesn't last, either", a constant reminder these days as I grow older....look back...watch my present...this is it. Thank you for your thoughts, enjoy reading them.

Deena, if you're older and know better, then you're one up on those of us who are only older. (smile)

Madhu, ah, yes, the elusive present. As Jim Croce said, "If I could catch time in a bottle..."
